my grandfather ran a cheetah sanctuary in south africa and he’d just lie with them and sleep among them and they’d rub against him and chirp at him they’re big fucking babies

Another Fun Fact: Cheetah’s are incredibly nervous animals. One of the (many) reason’s they’re going extinct is that cheetah’s are so sensitive and nervous, some of them are literally too nervous to breed. Other’s will breed, but stress themselves out so much, they’ll loose their cubs.

So zoo’s with breeding program’s had to figure out how to make Cheetah’s comfortable enough to first of all, get laid and secondly - not spazz themselves into miscarrying.

So what’d they do?
They gave the cheetah’s their very own Service Dogs!

The dogs make them feel safe, protected and secure!

For centuries, the location of King Richard III’s body has been unknown. Records say he was buried by the Franciscan monks of Grey Friars at their church in Leicester, 160 kilometres north of London. The church was closed and dismantled after King Henry VIII dissolved the monasteries in 1538, and its location eventually was forgotten.

Then, last September, archaeologists searching for Richard dug up the skeleton of an adult male who appeared to have died in battle.

Bone specialist Jo Appleby said the 10 injuries to the body were inflicted by weapons like swords, daggers and halberds and were consistent with accounts of Richard being struck down in battle — his helmet knocked from his head — before his body was stripped naked and flung over the back of a horse in disgrace.

She said some scars, including a knife wound to the buttock, bore the hallmarks of “humiliation injuries” inflicted after death.

Brothers, the North Wind whispers to them though they can not hear, his voice brushing through their hair.

The Old Gods are waking, Children of the Forest sing in delight. ‘The Old Gods are waking and Old Powers wake too, in the Blood of the First Men - Dragons are not the only creatures to be feared, not for much longer’, they cackle.

The Three-eyed Crow looks upon the sleeping form of the descendent of the First Men - the power within the small frame has him nearly crash to his knees. Though miles away, he can feel the Brother-Wolf who calls himself Rickon storm upon the world, Sister Earth heaves beneath his feet. The Crow smiles.

There are others, the Spirits of the North know and they are strong.

But they will be forged and bent and molded under the realms of other Gods.

They will not bear the mark of the Old Gods like their youngest siblings will.

The Spirits wonder though, when the Brother-Wolf and the Child of Old Powers return to the cradle of the North and sit upon the throne of the First Men and ask - will the other Gods relinquish their claims on the older siblings?

They chortle and snicker and pray to the Old Gods that they don’t.

The Spirits of the North want blood.

They want war.

For the world to become encased by the fury of Ice - and the Old Gods to rise again.

(They bear the mark of the Old Gods and with it, they’ll show the world the fury of the Gods)

One of my favorite - and most misunderstood - dieties is Seth, or Set, the god of chaos, storms, and war (and sometimes of evil) of Egypt. Most stories will tell you that, out of envy over his power and prosperity, Seth killed Osiris, and Osiris and Isis’s son, Horus, killed Seth when Seth tried to assassinate the boy off of his throne.

What the legends tend to leave out is that Seth was infertile (symbolic of his reign of the barren desert), and that his wife, Nephthys, went to Osiris and bore a son (Anubis). This was part of what enraged Seth so, and he slew his brother. Isis mated with Osiris’s remains and Horus came of that.

At this time Seth was fighting Horus for the throne, and Isis used trickery to end this. Disguised as a beautiful young woman, she went to Seth and told him that an evil man killed her husband and took their farm from them. She asked Seth what he would do. He became angry at the man in the story, saying he would kill that man, or banish him forever - and thus he condemned himself, and he was banished to the desert forever.

Seth is misunderstood, and you have to do some real research to get the full story. He may have had a temper, but his sisters were his downfall.
